brat|tice «BRAT ihs», noun, verb, -ticed, -tic|ing.
–n.
1. a partition for ventilation in a mine, usually made of cloth impregnated with creosote, nailed to props erected as needed.
2. Obsolete. a temporary breastwork, parapet, or gallery of wood erected on the battlement of a fortress, for use during a siege.
–v.t.
1. to line the sides of (a shaft, or the like) with planking or boarding.
2. to provide with a brattice.
